Making Better SchoolFusion Sites

Have you tried LIVE CHAT on your classroom Website...

Have you had an opportunity to take advantage of SchoolFusion's Live Chat feature? This allows class administrators to setup live chats, either right away or scheduled in advance. Chats are often used for virtual conferences or test reviews. Chat in real time with parents and students.
When you set-up a chat, all members of your class are notified via email. There are also security features in place requiring all users to login in order to participate. Also, when you log off the live chat, all participants are automatically logged off as well, so they can't continue to chat without supervision. 

Adding Pictures to your classroom Website...

Have you added a picture to your classroom website yet? It's very easy to find free pictures on the Internet, or you can use a digital photo.

To search for an image on the Internet, go to www.google.com. Click on Images and type in a word related to what you are searching (ie. Math). When you see an image you like, click on it, then click on "See full-size image". Right click (use the right mouse button to click) on the image and choose "Save Picture As." Click in the top box next to where it says "Save in:" and find "Desktop." Type the name of your image and hit the "Save" button.

To add the image to your website, simply click on the red link that says Add Class Picture. Click on the button that says "browse" then find the image name on your computer (allowed image types end with .jpg or .gif), click on the image, then click on "Open." and "Add Picture >>". Your image will then appear on your website.

Please do not use copyrighted materials found on the Internet (such as cartoon characters owned by Disney or Nickelodeon), as this is considered infringement.

Also, please verify with the school office as to whether a student's parents signed the waiver to have their childs picture used in publications/print/web before posting images including students.

Adding Announcements to your classroom Website...

Did you know that your SchoolFusion website allows you to not only post announcements, but to schedule them? You can put all your announcements in, then choose start and end dates for them to appear on your website.

Just log in, click on Add Announcement, then click on Add Advanced Announcement in the lower right corner of the box. It's really simple! Type in a title, then the body of your announcement (if you have Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher, you can format your announcement just like in Word!), add a picture if you'd like, then choose the start date and end date for this announcement to appear. When the appropriate date comes, the announcement will appear on your website…you don't have to do anything!

Another really cool feature is the ability to have really important announcements appear along the top of your classroom website. Just type in the announcement information, then click the Also show at top of page box. The important information will be in a bar across the top of your classroom page!
